Filters must be changed regularly

Bosch recommends your filters are checked before long vacation trips

Filter check of the vehicle inspection before the trip to the summer vacation
Relax and enjoy your vacation - with the security of reliably functioning filters in your car.

Checking filters is part of any vehicle inspection before summer vacation.

If the change interval specified by the vehicle manufacturer has been reached, a new filter must be installed. If the scheduled change of a filter is due soon after the vacation, Bosch recommends bringing this change forward. A new filter can reduce the load on the vehicle systems and components, especially over long distances. In addition, a new cabin filter will provide improved comfort on long journeys and supports the proper function of the air conditioning system.

How often a filter has to be changed?

Information on how often a filter must be replaced can usually be found in the vehicle's service booklet. These change intervals are specified by the respective vehicle manufacturers. On newer vehicles, the filters are usually changed as part of the specific service. If you have any questions about changing the filter, the workshop can advise.

Fuel filter

Fuel filter - therefore it must be changed regularly

Possible consequences of a clogged filter:

  • Loss of engine power or even engine standstill
  • Impairment of the fuel supply
  • Impairments to the output of the fuel pump or even a short-circuit
  • Internal corrosion of engine components with diesel fuel
Oil filter

Oil filter - therefore it must be changed regularly

Possible consequences of a clogged filter:

  • Premature engine wear or even engine damage
  • Reduced engine performance
  • Increased oil consumption

When changing the oil, the oil filter should always be changed as well.

Air filter

Air filter - therefore it must be changed regularly

Possible consequences of a clogged filter:

  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Reduced engine power
  • Increased pollutant emissions

To burn one liter of fuel, a combustion engine needs 10,000 liters of clean air. The air filter is responsible for cleaning this air.

Cabin filter

Cabin filter - therefore it must be changed regularly

Possible consequences of a clogged filter:

  • Poor vision due to misted windows, and thus reduced safety
  • Increased concentration of pollutants inside the vehicle
  • Allergic reactions, e.g. sneezing
  • Restricted operation of the air conditioning system due to deposits on the evaporator

Bosch recommends changing the cabin filter every 15,000 km or at least once a year. In addition, the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications have to be observed.
